Hexie Craziness

Ok I admit it I was bitten by the hexigon craze.  Just goes to show that "everything old is new again".   What started out as just and experiment has turned into my latest obsession!  (Like I need another one!) I haven't really decided what I will do with all these cute little posies when I am done, if I am ever done. but they are fun and easy cause I don't have to haul out  Ye Olde Sewing Machine.  We live in such a small space that I only bring the machine out when I am really working a major project or have lots of time to sew.  I recently started school for Court Reporting, so small projects like this that fit into a small basket work really great for my life right now.  So without further ado, enjoy the pics!

I used freezer paper templates for these and it works great but I do sometimes have to re-iron the template onto the fabric if I let it sit around for to long.  Here is where you can find the template
that I used.  Hexigon Template

This is what it looks like after you baste the hexie with the template inside.

Many single hexies, by the way the fabric I am using is what I had left over from a quilt I made my dd when she was 14.  I will try get some pictures of that quilt and post them.  I think I might turn these hexies into a throw to go with that quilt.

Some posies in progress...

The size of each hexie is 2 in across or a 1 inch side.  So the finished size is about 6 in across.

This is the back.  I learned a neat trick from one blog (sorry I don't remember where) that she lays the sides of the part she is sewing side by side instead of right side to right side that way your stitches don't show on the front.

I sew mine together in rows of three and two.  Then I sew the short rows to the the middle.

So there you have my little excursion into Hexie Madness.  It really is to much fun!

Come on join the fun you know you want to!
